Wade Young se sobrepuso a tres días de carreras brutales para ganar la 50a edición de la ‘Madre del Hard Enduro’ – el Roof of África en Lesotho.
El sudafricano compitió en los libros de historia después de reclamar su tercera victoria en el evento, líder de su compatriota Travis Teasdale y la leyenda británica Graham Jarvis.
Young dijo: «Volver a la cima del podio de Hard Enduro y hacerlo en casa en la 50ª edición del Roof of África es muy especial. Han sido tres días duros de carreras. Travis me mantuvo honesto toda la semana. Logré pasarlo en una de las subidas y lo mantuve hasta el final».

Los pilotos tuvieron que navegar por senderos de montaña aislados y lidiar con una mezcla de terreno rocoso y condiciones climáticas impredecibles que incluyen un sol ardiente y caliente y nevadas intensas al día siguiente.
La carrera épica puso fin a la temporada de Red Bull Hard Enduro con Jarvis, que buscaba un quinto título en el techo de África, ganando la Serie Mundial en general.
Él dijo: «Con la conducción tan rápido, fue difícil atrapar a los líderes. Tuvieron una gran ventaja y fueron mejores que yo en las cosas rápidas este año. Siempre es bueno estar en el podio y con victorias constantes este año hasta el 2017, ya que el campeón general es la guinda del pastel».
Sandra Gómez también entró en los libros de registro al llevar a su casa a Husqvarna en el lugar 30 para convertirse en la finalista femenina más alta en la historia de la carrera.
