2 pilotos mexicanos en la carrera de Hard Enduro más famosa en el mundo, Didier Goirand y Jesús Zavala participaron en Erzbergrodeo, edición 2017.
El prólogo, es la carrera que define a los 500 participantes finalista del Hare Scramble Erzbergrodeo de más de 1600 que se dan cita en este evento. En cada fila se forman 50 pilotos, y entre más adelante te encuentres, tienes más oportunidad de al menos, no encontrar muchos atorados en el duro recorrido.
En este evento, Jesús Zavala culminaba en el sitio 90 mientras que Didier Goirand lo hacía en el 52. Esto, los colocaba en la segunda fila de arranque, atrás de los primeros 50. Por la noche, se publicaban los resultados finales y Goirand alcanzaba el sitio 50, arrancando en al primera fila y Zavala 88, se quedaba en la segunda.
El punto culminante del «Gigante de Hierro» es el puesto de control 25, «Ziel» al cual tienes que llegar en un máximo de 4 horas.
Esta edición tuvo 25 finalistas, con Alfredo Gómez completando el recorrido 2 horas con 17 minutos. Graham Jarvis llegó en 2:20:28 y Cody Webb en 2:22:10.
Didier Goirand llegó al puesto de control 19, «The Cage» con 3 horas 57 minutos. Por su parte Jesús Zavala, llegó al puesto «Double Fault» número 16, cuando llevaba 3:38:17.
Cerca de las 4 horas, ya no dejan salir a los pilotos a la siguiente sección.
Jesús Zavala tuvo su primera participación en el 2008, en la edición 14, y concluyó de manera exitosa todos los puestos de control, cuando le quedaban unos segundos en el reloj. En el 2012 tomaría parte nuevamente de este evento, concluyendo 30 llegando al punto Prospekt. Ese mismo año, Homero Díaz llegaría al puesto 19 quedándose en uno de los pasos complejos de esta prueba, Carl´s Dinner.
Didier Goirand ha comentado que buscará el siguiente año terminar esta dura prueba. Tiene mucha experiencia en carreras de Hard Enduro.
